Approching 34 Weeks...

Time flies, I'm going to be 34 weeks already...
All the while I want to take a photo, but for Ian I didn't, I just hope I would get around to take some pregnancy shots before I pop...

This pregnancy has proven to be harder than the 1st one, my nausea till now & I'll vomit the rest of the day.

He's so different compared to Ian, moving actively the whole day & I won't be worry to count the kicking.

Since my Obgyn did comment that the placenta is a bit lowish during my 4th to 5th months, but after that it's ok... but I still opt for caesarean.  Therefore, a pre-scheduled date & pre-registration was done in July, I choose 28 Sept 2009 to be the same birthday with Zyta & agreed by James.

I've prepared everything for his arrival due to Ian arrived premature (37 weeks).

Anyway, countdown the days, lets hope everything will be smooth sailing.

ROM Anniversary

ROM-8 Aug 2003

Love is patient, love is kind.  It does not envy, it does not boast, it
is not proud.  It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs.  Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth.  It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.

Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away.

1 Corinthians 13:4-8

Siliskin Glass Bottle (Silikids)

Finally, I've bought the Siliskin Glass Bottle 8oz for Ian & Ryan.  I chose Aqua & Lime, Ian likes Aqua, so Lime is for Ryan.  I couldn't find it in major departmental stores.  Therefore, surf online and found a online shop in Singapore.  There's a promotion, so gather few friends to buy it and share the shipping cost.  It's cost about RM62 for 8oz, a silicone sleeve with Nurture Pure glass bottle.

After a month, I saw it in Parents Exhibition in Mid Valley.  A shop in Ampang Park Shopping Complex, they sell it at RM40 for 4oz and RM50 for 8oz.

Good to know:
Why Glass Bottles Are Better?
- Safer and free from harmful chemicals such as BPA.
- Will not retain smells and flavours.
- Least porous, glass is hygienic & easy to clean
- Faster to warm milk for baby
- More economical in the long run
- Environmental friendly

Did You Know?
Leukocytes in milk are the live cells that transfer immunity from you to your baby.

Glass or Plastic?
Leukocytes stick to the sides of any storage containers, but research (Goldblum 1981) showed greater numbers of leukocytes in glass containers than in plastic, as the cells were released from the sides of the containers over time.

Research has also shown a loss of antibodies and fat in milk that is stored in thin disposable plastic bags.

New Option for Glass Baby Bottle

New options for glass baby bottles
By Jeremiah | October 09, 2008 |

Glass baby bottles are making a big come back in recent months. One of the primary reasons for this is that so many of the plastic bottles on the market contain BPA or Bisphenol A. Basically it is an estrogen-like chemical used to make plastic but it is actually one of the last things we want to expose our children too. It can speed up puberty and add to weight gain, and may cause changes that can lead to breast and prostate cancer. Other studies have shown that is may cause brain damage, abnormal organ development, and hyperactivity. Not only is BPA itself bad news, but it is popping up everywhere from baby bottles to baby toys to formula cans. While the amount of BPA in each individual product might be considered to small to be unsafe (yeah right) the cumulative exposure from all the different sources can be significant.
Silikids' silicone sleeves are now designed to fit a variety of brands of baby bottles.

BPA-free plastic baby bottles are becoming more widely available than ever, with major brands like Playtex working their way towards being BPA-free, Avent coming out with BPA-free, honey-colored PES bottles, and Dr. Brown's with a new polypropylene bottle on the market since last April.  At the same time, we are seeing new innovations in the area of glass bottles that should make even more new parents turn to them.

Babylife pioneered the glass-bottle silicone sleeve back when the first dedicated BPA-free plastic bottles were just coming on the market, and Silikids one-upped them with a far cheaper model. Both were designed for Evenflo bottles, and we told the folks at Silikids that they should be working on sleeves for other brands of glass bottles. Of course, execution is what makes the difference between a random (and probably obvious) idea and a great product, and Silikids has hit another mark by being the first to come out with a series of skins for 4 and 8 oz bottles, shown above. Here are the glass bottles and brands Silikids says their line of silicone bottle covers are compatible with:

Standard Bottles
• Evenflo
• Dr. Brown's
• Medela
• The straight MoMo Bottle (w/out curve)
• Pigeon
• Born Free
• Dr. Brown's (launching new glass wideneck bottles soon)
• Pigeon Wide Neck

Meanwhile, Nurture Pure has designed an innovative sleeve for their own bottles that represents a real step forward.

Nurture Pure's new sleeve is not yet on the market, but we got a sample to take a look at after spotting it at the ABC Kids' Expo last month. The sleeve features pockets of air that add additional padding and a pillowy feel to their glass bottles, and will be available for all of their bottle sizes. This is the second of four innovations we mentioned in a recent post about the company.

Another option is the Wee-Go Glass Baby Bottle. It is a glass baby bottle with a protective sleeve. And it looks to be a wonderful product albeit a bit more expensive. The silicone nipple is latex-free and non-toxic. The plastic ring, plug and cap contain no polycarbonates and are food grade, FDA approved and recyclable. They are bisphenol A, phthalate, PVC and polycarbonate-free!

Also check out the Evenflo Cozy Glass Bottle with Sleeve, 3-Pack - Glass bottles with a comfy sleeve to protect the bottle from breakage.

A newer option for those that still opt for plastic baby bottles but BPA free is the Green to Grow baby bottle. They are free of phthalates, bisphenol A, lead, and PVC and they are quite reasonable in price.

BPA Free Products

What is Bisphenol A?
Bisphenol A is a hormone-mimicking chemical used in polycarbonate plastics (PC or identified as #7 recycling code) and resins commonly used for items such as shatterproof baby bottles. Bisphenol has estrogenic properties which, in animal tests has shown to cause a bevy of health problems such as an increase in prostate and breast cancer, uro-genital abnormalities in male babies, a decline in semen quality in men, early onset of puberty in girls, metabolic disorders including insulin-resistant (Type 2) diabetes and obesity and neurobehavioral problems such as Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder. Research is showing that when plastic containers, mostly those used to hold liquids and foods, are leeching Bisphenol into the foods and liquids they are holding. Heating food and liquids with these plastics is shown to increase the leeching of this contaminate.

Many companies use this chemical in their packaging including cans, soda cans, and plastic food containers. There is a risk of absorbing this chemical through the use of containing foods and liquids but can also leech into our water systems through landfills.
Many leading experts and the FDA argue that the use of Bisphenol-a is safe to the human public but independent research HAS proven otherwise.
Excerpt from Wikipedia:

“Bisphenol A has been known to leach from the plastic lining of canned foods and, to a lesser degree, polycarbonate plastics that are cleaned with harsh detergents or used to contain acidic or high-temperature liquids.[16] Infants fed with liquid infant formula have among the highest exposures of anyone eating canned foods. Infants fed canned formula with polycarbonate bottles can consume quantities of Bisphenol A up to 13 µg/kg/day.”
Info From Website:This is a list of BPA Free (also PVC and Phthalate Free) bottles, BPA Free sippy cups and food/milk storage items that we’ve made into a quick reference for those looking for a short list to have on hand when shopping for items for yourself or someone else’s kids, should BPA be a concern to you. If a product you are using is NOT on this list, you should investigate that product with the manufacturer to determine whether or not it contains BPA. Please note: If a product is not on this list it means either it contains BPA or we aren’t aware of it’s BPA status.

New Office KL Sentral-1 June 2009

After the nightmare of packing, finally moved...
Total package:  52 (B) & 25 (S)

Millionthanks to my hubby, James for helping me on the packing...
Initially, during my pregnancy check-up, doctor said my placenta was low and advised me to rest more.  So happened that the team members have projects on hand at CP Tower, nobody could help.  Even the moving team were unable to request a helper from "Crown", the mover.  It's sad :(

Thank you God for taking care of me always...

Number 2-HE or SHE

We went for a check-up on 16 May 2009, I was 19 weeks pregnant with Ryan. Daddy came along during Mommy’s appointment. We were both so anxious to see you, to learn that you are healthy and to find out if you were a boy or a girl. After all the routine measurements, we asked the doctor to see if he can tell us the baby’s sex. The doctor asked us to give him 3 reasons why we wanted to know your sex. After telling him that we are curious, excited and bro Ian would like to know. He happily told us that our baby is BOY. We asked the doctor how certain he was that our baby is a boy. He confidently said YES, I am 100% sure your baby is a boy. Daddy still couldn’t believe it. He has been telling himself all along that the baby would be a girl. Well, here is the picture to prove that little Ryan didn’t want you to doubt that he is definitely a boy. ( the kuku bird)

Kids Visit at KLCC Office

NSN Club has organised this "Kids Visit" at our KLCC office, i was one of the member to assist.  Thinking of what is attractive & meaningful to them, at last due to the budget, we bought "happy meal" from McDonald and some snacks for the parents.  Few of my colleagues were so kind to sponsor party pack for them.  They're enjoying and happy.  After home, Ian requested to go again.  Hahaha, but we're going to move to KL Sentral in June 2009.

Expecting number 2

And the journey begins…

After our Bali trip Sept 08, we’ve been waiting for you for 4 months. At least that’s how long it’s been since your Daddy & I decided to add another child to our family. Thank you Lord for giving us such a decision, especially after attending the marriage course in Jul/Aug 08.

It was a Saturday, 7 Feb 09 & I was actually 1 week late, I decided to search in the cabinet & take a pregnancy test. I was shocked when the test came up positive. I was so happy but I was scared too with my last history I wondered if I’d able to carry on this pregnancy.

I just had to be sure… So I did a second test, a few days after…

Ob/Gynae Visit:
We are still in dilemma about the  doctor, Dr Kelvin Lim in Tawakal or Gleneagles, Dr Alex Mathew, recommended by Erisca.  Thinking of a hospital with good facilities… We'll be trying Dr Alex, after the visit, we've decided to choose him.  He is nice, patient, considerate...

On 16 Feb 2009, below is our first scan of Num2 at 6 weeks…

Second Scan on 2 Mar 2009, 8 weeks...

Body Reaction:
The feeling of Nausea non-stop for the whole day.  It's either I've forgotten the 1st trimester with Ian, I felt more terrible this time... Don't have appetite too.  I've been very tried and went to bed early.  Luckily, hubby gave full support of taking care of Ian and the house work.

Diet and Blood Type

Eat Right for your Blood Type.
This link:  Blood Type Diet provided all the 'OK To Eat' and to be 'Avoid' food list according to your blood type.

Following decades of on-going research and clinical work, Dr. D'Adamo created
'The Blood Type Diets', a way of eating and living that has transformed the health of millions. To the first science that understands you as a biochemical individual.

A blood type diet is a nutrition plan based around your blood type. This kind of diet became popular with the release of Peter D’Adamo’s book Eat Right 4 Your Type. The book continues to be a bestseller. D’Adamo claims that the diet will not only bring about weight loss — but can assist with allergy and infection resistance, and will achieve overall good health.

What is a Blood Type Diet?
Most of the population has blood type O. Here the prescribed diet is low-carbohydrate, high in proteins (such as meat and fish), and low in dairy products. The author suggests specific foods to avoid; such as avocados, brazil nuts, and oranges. Type O should also engage in lots of exercise.
Blood Type A should avoid red meat, eat plenty of fish and vegetables, with a low dairy intake. Light exercise only.
Blood Type B should avoid chicken and bacon, eat plenty of meat and dairy, some fish, and plenty of fruit and vegetables.
Blood Type AB combines the A and B diets.

Is This Diet For Real?

The author claims that much of the recommendations are based on scientific evidence – but perhaps it is too early to make this claim. Metabolism and/or sugar/insulin sensitivity are probably key factors in deciding diet – not blood type. Two people can have very different metabolisms and have the same blood type. One could be sensitive to carbohydrates or sugar, whilst the other needs a high carbohydrate diet.
Weight loss and other health improvements may occur on this diet – not so much because of blood type combinations, but because of a healthier diet! The author encourages people to cut down on processed and refined foods. Good advice for anyone regardless of blood type.
The book also includes low calorie diets that will probably bring about weight loss in anyone (once again, regardless of blood type).
