We are praying for those on board a missing MAS flight as well as their loved ones who are waiting for news...
Try to explain what has happened to the kids, and used as a "teachable moment" about things like empathy, grief, loss, death and how to discern fact from rumour. Teach them how to express sincere condolence. Discuss possible scenarios if anything were to happen. Reminder of how fragile life is and it makes us appreciate each other more. Finally, should help them quell their fears and convince them that one incident doesn't mean that flying is unsafe.
One night, after praying, Ian said he wanted to pray too, and I'm surprised that his prayer points included no water supply and the hazy day. I suddenly felt that my little boy has grown up a little bit.
The next day, Ian asked:
Ian: mummy, do you notice that I'm good boy for the week
Me: Ya, why? What make you change?
Ian: It's the aeroplane
I'm just curious, the missing aircraft, how to make him changed to become a good boy, where's the points?
Kids expressed themselves...

My heart goes out to the families of those on board MH370, especially to my schoolmate. The Lord have mercy on their souls. I also hope and pray that light will be shed on the ongoing search and investigations.
I realised that it was not easy to build a balloon-powered car that worked as some law of physics had to be observed. The best part was the race and watching how the cars tumbled, flipped, toppled and tripped a few times before it was nearly smooth going. So much laughter... the kids had so much fun that they did not even realise they were learning.
Good job children and all parents!
