Preparation for Ryan's 4th Birthday

With the busy schedule on the go, only two weeks ahead to plan for Ryan's 4th birthday party.  Ryan has decided the party theme few months ago, in fact right after Ian's birthday.  The party theme is Disney Cars, so as usual, I started to prepare the invitation card, goody bag tag, candy wrapper, bottle label, food label, banner, thank you card and the food menu.  Therefore, I crazily searching for all the related stuffs.

They Keep on bugging me for packing the goody bags for the birthday.  In fact, they're really helpful and excited...

Partying

Our neighbourhood, it's been a quiet place, helpful and kind people, and almost filled with young families.  Once in a while, we do partying at each other places, not only the kids enjoyed themselves, the adults did too.

Aquaria KLCC

It was a fruitful school breaks, I fulfilled my plan for the kids and they experienced the movie day, LRT ride, farm & aquaria visitng.

We bought some discounted tickets from Living Social, it's RM28 for adult and RM22 for children.  It's not a big place but we can explore and slowly explain to the kids and they are allowed to touch some of the fishes at the explorer centre.  We spent 2 hours there.

Aquaria takes its visitors on a journey of discovery; from the source of water in the highlands to the flowing river and the ultimate destination, the sea. So, they divided the exhibits to several themed areas; such as The Highlands, Touch Pool, The Electric Zone, The Stream, Jewels of the Jungle, Flooded Forest, The Coast, Oceanarium, Weird and Wonderful and finally, the Discovey Zone.

Throughout the park, the kids especially loved walking through the transparent underwater tunnel (oceanarium), I think we repeated more than 5 times.  The 90m long tunnel lets you see and observe underwater creatures such as sharks, rays, turtles and many other species.

Victoria Readers

I have signed him up for the children program called Victoria Readers.  Victoria Readers is a system that uses a proven systematic approach to PHONICS that teaches the child to read and spell.  The Victoria Readers system consists of 4 levels.

Ryan@3y11m_16 Aug 2013

Programme:
Level 1: Child learns to read three letter words with a vowel in the medial position and simple sentence structures.
Level 2: Child learns to combine a vowel with consonant blends and simple sentence structures.
Level 3: Child learns to read diagraph, new sentence structures and simple comprehension passages.
Level 4: Child learns to read diphthongs and new sentence structures. Child reads short stories to expand his vocabulary

What is unique about The Victoria Readers?
1.    The programme teaches a child to read & spell in the shortest time.
2.    Our programme is so simple and systematic that a precocious 4-year-old can be taught to read independently.

3.    At the end of the programme, our children are normally 2 years ahead of their peers in reading fluency and comprehension.

Futsal Training

Hubby found a team runs basic futsal training for young children nearby our place, and Ian joined them last year.

The purpose for him to join is to help to develop his motor skills as well as assist his social development in a fun, enjoyable and safe environment.  Besides, he'll be trained on aerobic fitness, ball skills, good visions and the ability to work well in a team.

I think futsal is more suitable for young children as it's a low contact sport so the risk of serious injury is low.

Bela Ninja Thunder Swordsman

It's reward day for the kids, normally I'll buy them a gift when they've collected 100 stamps on their chore chart.  On selecting the gift, it must not too expensive, I received a good reviews on the Bela Ninja, so I bought 2 for each of them.

Surprisingly, it's really compatible with Lego bricks and it's economical, only cost RM12 each for about 80+pcs with ambush function.  Cool!

Farm in the City

One of the activities during this 3rd school breaks, was taking them to Farm in The City with Maggie & EnYee.  Not only the kids enjoyed themselves, the adults did too.  It was definitely an educational and fun day for us all.  We spent 3 hours in this place.

Farm in the City is a petting mini-zoo whereby children and adults are encouraged to get close to nature and animals.  It's completely free of cages, all animals are allowed to roam free in special enclosures which mimic as closely as possible to their natural habitat.

There's a promotion for Popular or AEON members, the price of ticket is RM28 for adult and RM23 for child below 12.  Children below 90cm in height will enjoy free entrance.  Our kids love it so much, they have been asking when we are going to the "farm" again.

LRT Ride with kids

In my mind, I always wanted to let the kids experience riding the LRT, but we've postponed the idea till now...

We decided to take them to ride the LRT to KLCC for visiting the book fair as the traffic congested around that area.  We parked our car at Sg Besi Station, then transited at Masjid Jamek Station to KLCC Station.

Besides experiencing the LRT ride, we taught them how to:
-  buy ticket;
-  look at the route;
-  find the direction;
-  read the signs;
-  queue
